Student Organizations

The function of student organization at the UHSA School of Medicine is to develop a relationship between the institution and the community. Through the organization, students will have the opportunity to develop management and leadership skills.

AMSA Antigua Chapter: The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. The purpose of this organization is:

(i) To provide an environment that supports the creative ideas of physicians-in-training

(ii) To promote, encourage and maintain a cohesive relationship with the student body, faculty and administration of the University

(iii) To serve as a forum for the discussion of health issues

(iv) To affect change in the medical education

(v) To maintain its status as an independent organization

(vi) To maintain its primary identity as an organization for physicians-in-training

(vii) To promote an maintain programs which enhance the quality of health care in the community

(viii) To be financially independent and maintain a stable financial base

(ix) To continue to develop health care leadership.
