Transfer Students

A transfer student is defined as a student who has finished the Basic Sciences from other Allopathic or Osteopathic medical schools and wishes to transfer to UHSA for continuation of the clinical science portion of their M.D degree.  The school must be listed in IMED.

Policy

Applicants must present valid and compelling reasons for transfer and be in good academic standing at the school where they are currently enrolled.  Courses qualified for transfer credit must have been completed within seven (7) years of the date of graduation from UHSA according to ECFMG guidelines.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Submit a completed application form
• Submit official transcripts from all undergraduate colleges, graduate schools and medical colleges attended.  Unofficial transcripts will be accepted pending the receipt of official transcripts from the institution attended
• Submit a letter of good standing from the Dean at the time of transfer/withdrawal from the school
• Submit three letters of recommendation from previous Professors
• Enclose a personal statement presenting valid and compelling reasons for admission by transfer

Procedures

• The application for admission by transfer consists of a cover letter requesting a transfer and all of the items listed as requirements above
• Only applications that are complete in every aspect will be considered.  All materials should be addressed and mailed to:

Applicants who submit a completed application for admission by transfer will receive written notification of the decision made by the Admissions Committee.  Incomplete applications will be withdrawn from consideration.
