United States and Canadian Passengers
Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) is a major airport hub with flights arriving and departing daily from the U.S. through American Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Delta Airlines. Canadian students and families may conveniently travel direct from Toronto through Air Canada and WestJet.
British Airways and Virgin Atlantic arrive and depart frequently during the week.
Renting a Vehicle
There are car rental companies in close proximity to the UHSA campus. In order to rent a vehicle, you must already have a valid license from your home country. A temporary Antigua driver’s license, which can be obtained through the rental companies, is required in order to operate a motor vehicle.
Required Travel Documents
Prior to your arrival in Antigua, it is imperative that the necessary documentation for traveling to Antigua is obtained. All students are required to have a valid and current passport, for this is required when traveling to Antigua. The government of Antigua further requires that all visitors to Antigua and Barbuda, who are neither citizens nor legal residents of Antigua/Barbuda, be in possession of a return airline ticket.
Students that are citizens of the United States of America are only required to have a passport, a visa is not necessary. Shipping to Antigua and Pre-Arrival
Shipping to Antigua can be quite costly so it is recommended that you bring as many personal items as you can with you during your flight. Although your school books can be shipped to Antigua, we recommend that you ship the items to your home address to ensure that you will receive them in a timely manner.
In the event that you must ship an item to Antigua, please note that International shipping laws apply with regard to importation of luxury items. Upon arrival, you will be required to pay a tax for any items shipped.
Prior to arrival in Antigua, please ensure that any personal items are not displaying price tags since you might be liable for paying a tax upon arrival. The reason behind this is because Antigua customs will assume that you are bringing items to sell, opposed to them being your own personal items.
