Displaced Ukraine-based Medical Students

UHSA is accommodating medical students displaced by the war in Ukraine. An applicant must be enrolled at a medical school in Ukraine to be considered a transfer student. To apply, applicants must upload to our online application, at minimum, a personal statement and transcripts so that completed courses can be evaluated.

Transcripts must be in English or include a word-by-word certified translation done by a certified translation service.

We understand the difficulty of obtaining official transcripts and other documents during this challenging period, so applications will be reviewed with unofficial copies until official records can be obtained.

Scholarship

To assist students affected by the war in Ukraine, this scholarship is awarded to applicants currently enrolled at a medical school in Ukraine who seek to transfer to UHSA. The scholarship offsets the tuition cost of the 4-year MD program.

Annual Tuition Fee:

  • 8,500 USD/year (Doctor of Medicine and Premedical Sciences Programs).

African medical students who transfer to UHSA may also apply for financing through the 8B Student Loan program.

Students need not apply for this scholarship as they are automatically awarded if qualified.

8B Student Loan Program

African students accepted to UHSA can now secure financing through the 8B Student Loan Program, providing money for the total cost of their medical education.

To qualify, applicants must provide the following:

  • National Identity Document / Passport copy for proof of being from an eligible African country*.
  • Bank Statement with the last two months of transactions.
  • Two references from family members or close acquaintances.
  • Proof of acceptance to UHSA School of Medicine.
  • A short essay regarding post-graduate plans: the short essay is very important for approval.

Accepted African students may apply by visiting apply.8b.africa.

If you have questions, email support@8b.finance.

*Eligible countries include all African countries except the Central African Republic, Libya, Somalia, and Sudan (not South Sudan).
