Congratulations on your offer of admission to UHSA!

To help you get better acclimated as you begin your academic journey at UHSA, be sure to read the enclosed materials and complete the necessary forms included within this packet. We have included the below checklist to help you stay on track and to take advantage of all that UHSA has to offer. You may also download a printable version of this page.

Admission Seat Reservation

After receiving your acceptance, one of the first steps toward securing your seat and confirming your enrollment at UHSA is to submit your seat reservation deposit.  The $500 deposit will be applied toward your tuition and is non-refundable. Candidates who submit a deposit after 14 days are not guaranteed a seat.

Student Identification Card

All students are required to carry with them at all times, an identification card, which will be provided by UHSA. Without an identification card, students will not be able to gain entrance to UHSA property or clinical areas. If you have did not provide a picture during the online application process, please email a passport-sized picture of yourself to support@uhsa.edu.ag.

As a student, please ensure that you frequently review following documents which are revised annually.

  • Housing Request Form and $500 Housing Security Deposit. New Basic Sciences students are required to live on campus for their first term in Antigua. Housing is assigned on a first-deposited basis.
  • Housing Contract signed and returned to admissions@uhsa.edu.ag cc: housing@uhsa.edu.ag. Students will not be able to move in without a signed contract.
  • Flight Plan and Travel Itinerary Form completed and returned. A round-trip airline ticket is required to enter Antigua. Check the academic calendar for important dates including, arrival dates for Basic Sciences students. After booking your flight, enter your flight information into our Student Travel Itinerary form and email to admissions@uhsa.edu.ag cc:housing@uhsa.edu.ag.
  • Passport and Visa. Please scan and send a copy of your passport photo to admissions@uhsa.edu.ag. You must bring one extra passport photo. U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport to enter Antigua and re-enter their home country. U.S. green cardholders need to have a passport from their country of origin and their U.S. green card to enter Antigua. Passports must be valid for at least six months after the expected date of travel. Antigua does not require an entry visa for U.S. or Canadian citizens. All green holders can apply for their visa upon arrival. Non-US citizens and non-Canadian citizens should check with the Antigua and Barbuda Consulate for visa requirements.
  • Immunizations/Medical Records form must be filled out and signed by your physician. You must then email it to admissions@uhsa.edu.ag. Make sure it has been signed by your physician before you upload it, and please retain an additional copy of your immunization records. You will need it when you begin your clinical rotations, and we cannot return your original form to you once you submit it. Please note: if we do not have your Immunization Record Form on file, you will not be able to register for classes.
  • Print Immigration Letter. We will email you an immigration letter once you email your Student Travel Form and email it to admissions@uhsa.edu.ag. Please print out the immigration letter and carry it with you, along with your passport and acceptance letter when you arrive at V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua. For more information on student visas and immigration requirements, please visit immigration.gov.ag.
  • Health Insurance. All students studying in Antigua will be required to have health insurance. Students can email admissions@uhsa.edu.ag the proof of coverage; otherwise, students will need to purchase insurance locally prior to the start of classes.

  • Tuning forks: 128 Hz and 512
  • Wristwatch: any watch with a second hand for taking a pulse
What to Pack in Your Carry-on
  • Passport (current and with a minimum six-month validity; please check the date)
  • 2 standard passport photos. In addition to your passport, you will need 2 passport photos required for your immigration extension of time. It must be printed in color on photo quality paper; 2×2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size. Photocopies or printouts on printer paper will not be accepted.
  • Immigration letter
  • Acceptance letter
  • VISA (if required, to enter Antigua because you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen or a citizen of a country whose citizens Antigua allows to enter without a visa)
  • Driver’s license (current and that will not expire while you are in Antigua)
  • Debit/credit cards (current and that will not expire while you are in Antigua) with a travel notice on each card
  • Health-care provider card
  • Black pen (for completing the immigration form on the airplane)
  • Cash (in case you cannot immediately access an ATM or use a credit card) for bag porters at the airport and taxi transportation to campus. UHSA does not provide shuttle service to and from ANU Airport.
  • Personal medications (prescription or over-the-counter, if needed regularly. Do Not pack in luggage, place it in your carry-on.)
  • Prescription/reading eyeglasses
  • Contact-lens solution and case (if applicable)
  • Cell phone & charger
  • Contact phone numbers (for family: home and cell phone numbers)
  • Headphones
What to Wear
  • White Coat (long) - Lab coat must have UHSA’s logo
  • Grey Scrubs (multiple sets recommended as this is the class uniform) – available for pickup during orientation.

  • While off campus, students must also wear their student ID’s in conjunction with their scrubs and lab coats when visiting hospitals or clinics.

Listed items can be purchased on the island, but bedding linens are not supplied when you move into housing. You may decide to bring linens with you for your first several days and purchase remaining linens on the island.

We HIGHLY recommend renting a car while taking classes in Antigua since grocery stores, restaurants, etc. are located a driving distance from campus. UHSA does not provide shuttle service, and students are responsible for their transportation, including to and from the airport (taxis require cash payment, so students need to be prepared upon arrival).

You can purchase a temporary license from the Antigua and Barbuda Police Station located in the Dockyard in English Harbour at the cost of $50 ECD. You will need to present a valid passport along with a valid driver’s license from your home country. The temporary license is valid for three months only. You must get a new temporary license every three months or get a permanent license.
