Before arrival in Antigua, the necessary documentation for traveling to Antigua must be obtained. All students must have a valid and current passport, for this is required when traveling to Antigua. Antigua’s government further requires that all Antigua and Barbuda visitors, who are neither citizens nor legal residents of Antigua/Barbuda, have a return airline ticket.
Antigua does not require an entry visa for U.S. or Canadian citizens. Please check with the Antigua and Barbuda Consulate (http://immigration.gov.ag/) for visa requirements if you are a citizen of another country.
For passengers who require a visa, UHSA will email students an immigration letter. This is required and must be printed, along with a valid passport and acceptance letter upon arrival at V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua (ANU).
Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) is a central airport hub with flights arriving and departing daily from the U.S. and Canada through:
- Air Canada
- American Airlines
- Caribbean Airlines
- Delta Airlines
- Frontier Airlines
- Jet Blue
- United Airlines
- West Jet
Students typically fly British Airways and Virgin Atlantic through London. Flights arrive and frequently depart throughout the week.
There are car rental companies close to the UHSA campus. To rent a vehicle, students must already have a valid license from their home country. A temporary Antigua driver’s license, which can be obtained through the rental companies, is required to operate a motor vehicle.
If students must ship items to Antigua, please note that international shipping laws apply concerning the importation of luxury items. Upon arrival, students will be required to pay a tax for any items shipped. Also, note that personal items displaying price tags may also be liable for the payment of taxes upon arrival.
