Transferring Medical Schools
Transfer Students
Applicants will be considered for transfer if they comply with all the criteria listed below.
- Must meet all application and entry requirements.
- The prior medical school must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- A letter of good standing from the Dean of your prior medical school.
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) requires that any transferred credits come from an eligible, recognized medical school. ECFMG generally permits only one transfer; multiple transfers may render you ineligible for certification.
Transcripts must be in English or include a word-for-word certified translation from a certified translation service.
Advanced Standing
Applicants who have undertaken studies in health sciences (osteopaths, podiatrists, dentists, physician assistants, nurses, etc.) are not eligible for advanced standing and are advised to enroll in the Basic Sciences program.
