Scholarships

Scholarships is a type of financial aid that does not need to be repaid. They are a great way to pay for your education and may reduce the need for student loans. If you are a new student, you will be considered for scholarships at the time of admission. To apply for scholarships, you must complete the Scholarship Application after your acceptance to UHSA.

International Scholars Award

Awarded to eligible international medical and nursing students, the International Scholars Award offers a limited number of incoming, first semester students, a pathway to becoming licensed, practicing physicians and nurses.

Award Amount

  • $3,000 per term (1-5) – medical school
  • $1,500 per term (1-6) – nursing school

Eligibility

  • Proof of country residency
  • A copy of your passport
  • One page essay stating why you should be considered for the grant
  • Must maintain good academic standing
  • Open only to international students who are not fully sponsored or receiving a reduced tuition rate
  • Not available to United States citizens or permanent residents

Minority Physician’s Award

To increase access to medical education for first-year minority medical students, UHSA is proud to offer Black, Hispanic, and Asian students the Minority Physician’s Award. The award is offered to first-year medical students based in the United States and its territories.

Award Amount

  • $2,500 per term (1-5) – medical school

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Proof of residency in the United States or Territories
  • A copy of your passport
  • One page essay stating why you should be considered for the grant
  • Must maintain good academic standing

Please note:

  • Scholarship candidates must be accepted as a student by UHSA before consideration
  • Scholarships may not be combined
  • Only new incoming students enrolling into their first term are eligible
  • Scholarships cannot be regained once lost

Healthcare Professionals Grant

Awarded to qualified applicants who have a professional background in a health care profession and are now ready to expand on their knowledge.

Award Amount

  • $2,000 one-time awarded in term 1

Eligibility

  • Proof of current certification or license
  • Proof of full-time employment for at least six months in a recognized health profession including but not limited to: Nursing, EMT/Paramedic, Physician’s Assistant, Physical Therapist, Chiropractor, Pharmacist
  • Letter of recommendation from a relevant supervisor
