Scholarships and Grants
UHSA is committed to supporting your educational journey through a variety of scholarships and grants. While funding is limited, new and transfer students are considered for these opportunities during the admission process.

Puerto Rico Physician Scholarship
Awarded to qualified applicants who are residents of Puerto Rico.
Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students on a first-come, first-served basis upon enrollment.
Award Amount
Tuition is reduced to $20,000 per year for the four-year MD program.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all criteria to qualify:
New admission to the MD program (first-term or transfer) with paid seat deposit.
Documented permanent residency in Puerto Rico.
Continued compliance with academic progress and disciplinary policies; probation or course failure terminates eligibility.
Applying
No separate application is required. Applicants are automatically evaluated during the admissions process, and awards are granted upon meeting eligibility criteria.
Note: Eligibility applies only to students newly admitted for Fall 2025 and subsequent terms and is not retroactive.
CARICOM National Grant
Awarded to qualified applicants who are citizens of a CARICOM country.
Award Amount
50% discount on tuition for the Basic Sciences Terms – Awarded each academic term of the Basic Sciences.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all criteria to qualify:
New admission to the MD program (first-term or transfer) with paid seat deposit.
Documented proof of CARICOM country citizenship.
Continued compliance with academic progress and disciplinary policies; probation or course failure terminates eligibility.


Displaced Ukraine Medical Students Grant
Awarded to qualified applicants who are transferring from a Ukrainian medical school affected by the war in Ukraine.
Award Amount
50% discount on tuition for the Basic Sciences Terms – Awarded each academic term of the Basic Sciences.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all criteria to qualify:
New admission to the MD program (first-term or transfer) with paid seat deposit.
Must transfer from a Ukrainian medical school. Medical school transcripts must be in English.
Continued compliance with academic progress and disciplinary policies; probation or course failure terminates eligibility.
The scholarship is automatically applied once the applicant is reviewed by the academic committee.
