Citizens of the US, Canada, and the UK do not require a visa to enter Antigua & Barbuda; however, there are countries whose citizens are required to hold a valid visa for entry. For a complete list of those countries, please visit the Antigua & Barbuda Department of Immigration.
The initial cost of an approved student visa will be credited to the student’s UHSA account. Student visas are valid for two years and allow multiple entry into Antigua & Barbuda.
Required documentation when applying online for an Evisa
The Antigua & Barbuda Immigration office will endeavor to facilitate the e-Visa application process of students who meet the requirements for entry. Please remember that the documents below must be submitted for processing visa applications.
- UHSA acceptance letter
- Passport-sized photo.
- Scanned copy of the passport bio page.
- Proof of financial support
- Physician’s Health Certificate
- Yellow-Fever vaccination certificate (for students coming from the African continent).
- Birth Certificate
- Immigration letter addressed to the Chief Immigration Officer in Antigua – Provided by UHSA.
Transit Visas
Depending upon your citizenship and itinerary, you may need to obtain a visa for the countries you will transit through en route to Antigua & Barbuda. Please look into this early on so you have all the necessary travel documentation. If you require a transit visa, you will need to request a letter from UHSA in support of your transit visa application. UHSA will provide supporting documentation upon receipt of your deposit payment. Please allow enough time to secure the transit visa when making your payment and travel arrangements.
Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) is a central airport hub with flights arriving and departing daily from the U.S. and Canada through:

- West Jet
Students typically fly British Airways and Virgin Atlantic through London. Flights arrive and frequently depart throughout the week.
There are car rental companies close to the UHSA campus. To rent a vehicle, students must already have a valid license from their home country. A temporary Antigua driver’s license, which can be obtained through the rental companies, is required to operate a motor vehicle.
If students must ship items to Antigua, please note that international shipping laws apply concerning the importation of luxury items. Upon arrival, students will be required to pay a tax for any items shipped. Also, note that personal items displaying price tags may also be liable for the payment of taxes upon arrival.
