To help you get better acclimated as you begin your academic journey at UHSA, read the enclosed materials and complete the necessary forms on this page. We have included the below checklist to help you stay on track and take advantage of all that UHSA offers.

  1. Seat Reservation Deposit: A first step toward securing your seat after being accepted is to submit your seat reservation deposit. The 500 USD deposit will be applied toward your tuition and is non-refundable. Candidates who submit a deposit after 14 days are not guaranteed a seat.
  2. Passport and Visa: Please scan and send a copy of your passport photo to You must bring one extra passport photo. U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport to enter Antigua and re-enter their home country. U.S. green cardholders must have a passport from their country of origin and a U.S. green card to enter Antigua. Passports must be valid for at least six months after the expected travel date. Antigua does not require an entry visa for U.S. or Canadian citizens. All green holders can apply for their visa upon arrival. Non-US and non-Canadian citizens should check visa requirements with the Antigua and Barbuda Consulate.
  3. Travel Itinerary Form completed and returned (for those traveling to Antigua). A round-trip airline ticket is required to enter Antigua. Check the academic calendar for important dates, including arrival dates for Basic Sciences students. After booking your flight, please enter your flight information into our Student Travel Itinerary form.
  4. Immunizations/Medical Records form must be filled out and signed by your physician. You must then email it to Make sure your physician has signed it before you upload it, and please retain an additional copy of your immunization records. You will need it when you begin your clinical rotations, and we cannot return your original form to you once you submit it. Please note: if we do not have your Immunization Record Form on file, you will not be able to register for classes.
  5. ​COVID-19 Vaccination: All students coming to campus should be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. All students will be required to follow any guidelines by the Antiguan government or UHSA. Failure to do so will result in not being able to participate in the educational program. If your adult family members are accompanying you, they must be vaccinated.
  6. Immigration Letter: We will email you an immigration letter once your Student Travel Itinerary is received. Please print the immigration letter and carry it with you, along with your passport and acceptance letter, when you arrive at V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua.   7. Health Insurance: All students must have comprehensive health coverage and may elect to buy a student health insurance policy provided by Cigna should they require it. Students may provide Proof of Existing Insurance Coverage; otherwise, students will need to purchase insurance locally before starting classes.
  8. Criminal Background Check (CBC): Your CBC is due no later than 30 days before the first day of classes. You can obtain a CBC from or your local precinct. If you receive a CBC from your local precinct, it must be in a location where you’ve resided within the last six months of your first day of classes. You will be asked to provide a new CBC before your Clinical Clerkships. Please note: All students must submit a CBC to register for courses.
  9. Student Identification Card: All students must carry with them at all times a UHSA Student identification card, which will be provided. Without an identification card, students will not gain entrance to UHSA property or clinical areas. What to Pack in Your Carry-on
  • Passport (current and with a minimum six-month validity; please check the date)
  • 2 standard passport photos. In addition to your passport, you will need 2 passport photos required for your immigration extension of time. It must be printed in color on photo quality paper; 2×2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size. Photocopies or printouts on printer paper will not be accepted.

  • VISA (if required, to enter Antigua because you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen or a citizen of a country whose citizens Antigua allows to enter without a visa)
  • Driver’s license (current and that will not expire while you are in Antigua)
  • Debit/credit cards (current and that will not expire while you are in Antigua) with a travel notice on each card
  • Health-care provider card
  • Black pen (for completing the immigration form on the airplane)
  • Cash (in case you cannot immediately access an ATM or use a credit card) for bag porters at the airport and taxi transportation to campus. UHSA does not provide shuttle service to and from ANU Airport.
  • Personal medications (prescription or over-the-counter, if needed regularly. Do Not pack in luggage, place it in your carry-on.)

  • While off campus, students must also wear their student ID’s in conjunction with their scrubs and lab coats when visiting hospitals or clinics.

We highly recommend renting a car while taking classes in Antigua since grocery stores, restaurants, etc., are located a driving distance from campus. UHSA does not provide a shuttle service. Students are responsible for their transportation, including to and from the airport (taxis require cash payment, so students need to be prepared upon arrival).

You can purchase a temporary license from the Antigua and Barbuda Police Station located in the Dockyard in English Harbour at the cost of $50 ECD. You will need to present a valid passport along with a valid driver’s license from your home country. The temporary license is valid for three months only. You must get a new temporary license every three months or get a permanent license.
